Summer Germany 2009
After waiting for one year I finally came back for a holiday to my home country Germany. I went for one week to the Bavarian Alps to Mittenwald. It was very impressive this time and I had some wonderful weather with blue sky. So it was unavoidable to go for some breathtaking hiking tours through the alpine area.
On the picture on top you can see the "Eng-Almen" in Tirol/Austria. You can reach this upper valley only by road via Germany. One of the most beautiful spots I've seen so far in the Alps.
I also did a 2 days trekking tour with a night in a hut where already King Ludwig II. of Bavaria decided to rest (Soiernhaus). Incredible!
I had to share the room with 36 other hikers :-) It was a wonderful snooring concert on 1610m (5300 ft.) above see level!
I also took a quit interesting picture of the only venomous snake in this region. A Common Viper (Kreuzotter). By mistake I thought it's the unvenomous and shy Grass Snake (Ringelnatter). Thats why I got very close to the snake to take some pictures.
Only after comparing my photo with some Internet photos of the two different snakes it seems that it was the Common Viper. Well... Good luck in that case ;-)
Next time I better should improve my knowledge about snakes and watch a bit more of Animal Planet.
Cheers!
