Late Autumn in Hanoi

Dear friends,

autum has arrived in Hanoi. You even can see on and of some trees where the leaves turn into a beautiful red colour. Yesterday was a beautiful day. I took some pictures from outside at lunch time in the centre of Hanoi, close to the militay museum.
After work I went for a drink and a shisha to I-Box. This is a very fashioned and cozy "in" bar/restaurant at Hoan Kiem lake. It has become more or less my second living room.
I ended the day at "Mao's red lounge". One of the tiny bars you have in the old quarter. Always packed with backpackers and expats. Cheers!

Perfume Pagoda, Vietnam

Dear friends,

Since 3 days we have wonderful weather in Hanoi. Its dry, no humidity and temperatures of 25 C. So I decided to make a day trip to the wonderful Perfume Pagoda about 60 km south of Hanoi.
Its just unbelivable how dramaticly the landscape has changed.
Till there the country is completly flat. The only thing you
can see are flooded paddy fields and some villages in between. And then suddenly those markable limestone mountains with its forest, rivers and lakes.
Anyhow, beside the gorgeous landscape it was the breathtaking buddhist pilgrimige path I walked alone in the mountains with several temples and pagodas.
One of the most impressive temple complexes I have seen so far was the Thien Tru Pagoda.
So different again in its arcitecture in comparison to the pagodas of Sri Lanka or Thailand.

Ein verregnetes Wochenende

Liebe Freunde,

wenn mich eins bisher hier in Vietnam besonders beeindruckt hat, dann der Regen.
Es ist ja nicht so, dass es hier ständig regnet. Wenn es aber regnet, dann hört es so schnell nicht mehr auf. Am Wochenende war mal wieder "Land unter" in Hanoi angesagt.
Schon zum zweiten mal seit ich hier bin. Ich frage mich aber immer wieder dann, wo dieses unglaubliche, vom Arbeitgeber wahrscheinlich beeinflusste Phänomen, (Dauerregen nur an Wochenenden) herkommt?
Da muss es wohl eine heimliche Absprache zwischen Petrus und dem Arbeitgeberverband geben...

Die Regenaufnahmen weiter unten auf meinem Video geschahen natürlich auch an einem Wochenende.

Nächste Woche wollte ich mal ein wenig raus aus Hanoi. Entweder Halong Bucht oder die Parfüm Pagode. Wenn es nicht gerade regnet... Immerhin liegt die Temperatur aber zwischen 25-28 Grad. Wenigstens friert man (noch) nicht.

Was die kulinarische Vielfalt der vietnamesischen Küche betrifft, kann mann wohl getrost sagen, dass wirklich ALLES gegessen wird, was mal je gelebt hat. Wahrscheinlich nicht jedermanns Sache. Ansonsten ist die vietnamesische Küche aber durchaus reizvoll.
